Dear Colleagues,
Please join us for the inaugural Sigma Health System Nurse Scientist Collaborative Journal Club on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern Time via TEAMS. This new quarterly forum is designed to foster collaboration among health system nurse scientists, advance nursing scholarship, and create opportunities for meaningful dialogue about emerging evidence and its implications for research, practice, leadership, and healthcare outcomes.
Our first discussion will focus on:

The authors propose a novel framework that positions nursing as a value-generating human capital asset and examines how investment in nursing workforce development, education, retention, and practice environments contributes to improved patient, nurse, and organizational outcomes.
Journal Club Goals
- Promote scholarly discussion among health system nurse scientists.
- Explore the translation of evidence into clinical practice, leadership, and healthcare systems.
- Foster collaboration across organizations and health systems.
- Identify opportunities for future research and innovation.
Format
The journal club will be held quarterly and will include:
- Brief overview of the featured article
- Facilitated discussion of key concepts and implications
- Interactive dialogue and exchange of ideas among participants
- Exploration of future research opportunities and collaborative initiatives
Expectations for Participants
Participants are encouraged to read the article in advance and come prepared to engage in discussion, share perspectives from their own organizations, and consider how the concepts presented might inform future nurse scientist work and healthcare system transformation. We welcome nurse scientists, researchers, clinicians, educators, and leaders interested in advancing nursing scholarship through collaboration.
